Hello. My beardie is 4 years old and he is my best friend. About 3 months ago he started going into brumation so i lowered his heat lamp and stuff. He stopped eating completely and hasnt eaten a single thing in 2/3 months. Hes still drinking and he doesnt have any physical changes in his weight were he definitely isnt under weight. He used to still be awake quite alot but he has now turned black all the time even when im holding him. He still poos but there always really wet with only a bit of hard poop. Ive gotten him a new tank and new food and have tried everything i can but hes just not right.

Ive also noticed that his thermal pores are really full and have been trying to get him to the vet but ive only managed to get an appointment with them now. Im really scared and just dont want him to be in pain. Do you think they are going to have to put him down? I dont want him to die hes my best friend.

You dragon is in distress and I have some one looking at those pores -- I am not sure if they are infected so I want some one else to take a look --- your dragon is losing weight I can see his tail is getting real thin along w/ the ribs --his tail should be nice and thick ---- please go over all your lighting brand and bulbs please -- we will start there first -- basking temps should be surface basking temps taken w/ a digital probe thermometer 95-100 --

Your dragon is in distress w/ the really black beard -- please go over all your lighting as I asked in the previous post--- how old is the UVB? this is normally the issue especially if your using coils colored bulbs and stick ons for gauges -- they will stop eating w/ incorrect lighting and it may take a while for it to take effect --- he is losing weight please tell me what your using for lighting --

I got a response back from the person I asked help for here is what she said

I agree he's underweight so yes, go over your lights and post pics of your enclosure. Make sure to keep his lights + heat back to normal to discourage him from sleeping . You want him to be up and start eating. I wouldn't worry about the pores, just soak him in nice warm water for 10 minutes a couple times a week and scrape lightly if anything is protruding but be sure not to hurt him.
You can also use some coconut oil or paste to soften the pores as well - that will get them to where you can gently squeeze them and the wax stuff should come out

The bulb is 2 days old as I did reaserch and also know this is a common reason for beardies go black. Im not sure what brand it is but it is but it is the correct temperature. It is not a coloured bulb either. I dont think its the lighting that is the issue though because he has been not eating under 3 different lights.

Your basking temps are being taken w/ what? IR gun - digital probe or stick on? Digital probes are the most accurate - if your using a daytime bulb they are not very good here is some info on those
Neodymium bulbs the neodymium coating which is a rare earth mineral, decreases the CRI or Color Rendering Index which affects the overall brightness. It does this by cutting the yellow color range out to make it appear brighter but since reptiles are very sensitive to light & can see more of the spectrum than we can it is best to use a bright white light for basking instead.
As requested please tell us what your using for a UVB - if your using a coil of any kind this would be a good cause for not eating --- coils are inadequate and will cause dragons all kinds of health issues - your dragon is in distress and until we get more info I cannot help you find the cause of the dragons behavior --- we always start w / lighting first
What 3 different lights have you tried ?
