Hi all. We have a young female, less than 1 year old I believe, who’s gone into brumation. Nothing has changed inside the tank. The temps are good. Anyone else have experience with this? From what I’ve researched most people say to just leave her be. I offer water but have stopped putting out veggies as she hasn’t come out in about 3 weeks. If anyone has any advice or tips, I’d appreciate it.

Happy New Year!

Lighting and basking temps play a huge role in the behavior of the dragon--- if your dragon is over 300 grams its possible but most do not brumate under a year and then its only semi brumation -- please tell me what your UVB is a coil or a tube and how your getting basking temps w/ a stick on or a digital probe thermometer ? and what are they? In correct temps will send them into a brumation state along w/ incorrect UVB --- if its truely brumation she is young and her weigh should be good to substantiate the sleeping time -- you dont want her losing a lot of weight and you want to keep her hydrated as well - but we need to first figure out if its temps and UVB --

It’s a tube, inside the tank. Temps are measured with a digital probe, not a surface temp reader but we have one of those available I believe. Attached are some pictures of the tank and hot and cool side readings

It’s a ZooMed 10.0 T5HO about 12” from the basking spot. There are some other spots where it is a bit closer or further away

Ok she can sit directly under it? Is she completely out or is she in and out like coming out every couple of days to bask ? They usually don't eat alot during winter and activity slows down to- have you weighed her?

Yes there are spots where she can sit directly under it, at about 10” from it. She started hiding for a few days, then came out for a day and basked and ate, but now she’s been hiding under a log on the cool side for a few weeks.

How much does she weigh ? You can weigh her on a kitchen food scale weigh in grams- get her out now offer water -- keep track of her weight- she can lose up to 20 grams- if she's losing more than that there is a issue

I have not weighed her. I don’t know what she weighed before she started this. I’ve read that it’s best to leave them alone if brumating so I haven’t tried to get her out of her hide.

Please check on her - she needs to be kept hydrated- if there is a issue going in w/ her the weight is going to tell you- get a weight in her now please

I’ll have to get a scale today because I don’t have one. But if she is doing this naturally I also don’t want to disturb her
