Black Spot on Beardies Tongue

Hi!
First timer here, my Bearded Dragon, Bovie has had a black spot on his tongue for about 2 weeks now. He had a really foul poop yesterday as well. In my internet deep dive, I’m worried it could be mouth rot. He eats a ton and no change in behaviour and there is no pus in the mouth. Is it worth rushing to a vet (they charge a ton just for a consultation) or is there something I can do without the vet bill.
Thanks!

It looks normal - Blaze has a block spot on his tongue as well and its been there forever - as long as hes eating normal and acting normal hes fine- as far as the foul smelling poop is it enough to drive you out of the room - that would be a sign of parasites - what is his main insect? If its really bad collect a sample and take it in for a fecal test - NO enemas!!!!!!!!! They would want a 24 hour sample --

Thanks for the insight!
It was a pretty bad one with a bit of slime.. Hopefully it’s a one off! But they should be quite solid right? Main insect is crickets..

Ok crickets are a dirty feeder and can often cause parasites- I would look at changing him over to dubia roaches www.dubiaroachs.com - make sure hes got good UVB NO coils if you need help w/ this please ask - surface basking temps are 95-100 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer -- this will help keep parasites at bay - I would get his fecal in for testing -- go from there

This is awesome advice. We did this after poop so stinky I thought we would have to fumigate the house. And sure enough, we did what Sadie said and they found a parasite type in our little Dragon. He took his med. And almost immediately the smell was gone. And, even though Dubie Roaches cost a bit more, they are not only “clean” but they are more nutritious, and more filling. I find Dragon eats less of them compared to his usual number of crickets. So they are evening out price wise

I just had to get over the name.

Yes the the poop and urate should be formed moist - really bad smell could be a sign of parasites- you can have it tested No enemas! Take the poop sample in 24 hour timeline
