I haven't ever owned a lizard, just snakes. In the past I've jumped to quickly into owning a new reptile so I am here to observe and learn for awhile before I own.... which is difficult because they are all so stinkin' adorable!
I have ran into too many issues getting the animal first and THEN figuring it out... I own a red tail boa named Cloe atm, really knowledgeable about snakes but I know absolutely nothing about lizards! Ive owned 2 iguanas and it DID NOT go well which scares me... My first reptile was bought from Petco (shoot myself) and it was an iguana that was super tiny... it began to loose all movement in its legs and kept loosing weight, by the time he had died he was dark brown and had crippled ligaments.. I went back to the store and through a complete fit (I had no idea how to help him) I ended up taking home another and ran into the same issue, once I took it to the vet I found out that not only did the two iguanas I had had MBD but I stayed up all through the night feeding baby food and calcium through a syringe, they were both so fragile you couldn't even set them in your hand without the thought of them being crushed... I ended up loosing the second after 3 weeks because it just progressed to quickly.. it was horrible! They were fail rescue attempts but it didn't hurt any less to loose them.. no animal should be that way.. they were about the size of an index finger..
anyways, here to research and somewhat feed my addiction - its killing me to watch all the bd owners and not be one myself
