Best thing to feed baby beardies? Cannot get crickets or roaches.

I am in a predicament. I want a baby beardie, but what can I feed it for the meat portion of its diet growing up? I'm an hour away from pet stores and bait shops, so I can't get crickets. The only way I can get crickets is if I order them in bulk online, which is going to be a no-go since I have nowhere to store the rest of the crickets and I don't care for their chirping. I'm in Florida, so the only roaches that are readily available to me are discoid. But, roaches in general are a no-go since my in-laws don't want them in the house. I'm afraid they'll die if I keep them outside if I do decide to breed them.

What do you guys suggest I do? I see things like Nature Zone Bearded Dragon Bites, but I don't know if these are healthy enough for the baby beardies. I have tons of plants I can supplement with the bites (pear cacti, hibiscus, etc.), so that part is covered. The only problem is the meat portion of the diet. Can someone help me with this predicament?

You can try getting like a 10 gal tank, spray painting the glass black and using it as a mini roach container, I think you guys can also get lobster roaches as well. Tropical roaches I'd imagine would do well in florida lol. My parents weren't having the dubias in the house, but I hid them and stuck em in the closet no one uses and now they really dont care.

You'll want to mix up little beardies food from time to time though, they tend to get bored of the same thing over and over. Superworms are an option, just be careful as they contain lots of fat.

Another option would be to get a juvenile Dragon. Babies take some care - juvies not so much and the Dietary requirements are not as restricted

Thanks for the replies! I'll talk about having the discoids outside since they can stand the temperatures. I can't keep them in a 10g. My MIL is into fish and would be curious about what's in there. Besides, I'm not into lying and she's done so much for me. Even if I did that I would pretty much be on her dislike list for eternity. I never keep secrets from anybody simply out of trust and respect.

As for a juvenile, what size would they be? I'm looking at getting a beardie who is almost 10", so would that still be a baby or more of a juvenile? I think it hatched in June, but I'm unsure.

How long have you had him for? What does his cage look like? When was the last time he pooped?

We had him since April

Try bringing him outside and letting him get some natural UVB, see if that wakes him up, his temps should be between 105-110 on the basking point, if you're using the round thermometers that come with tanks toss it and get a digital one with a probe from wal mart for like 10 dollars. How old is the UVB bulb you're using? They should be replaced every 6 months. And he needs to be able to get within like 6" of the light i believe it is.

See if you can get him to use the restroom.
Bring him outside for some natural UVB
Try feeding something besides mealworms.
Dubia roaches are great for them. Superworms are good for them too.

Just reading up on Phoenix worms (reptiworms) and I may order these and Dubia roaches as a staple. So many things to learn about dragons.
