Best heat bulbs?

I live in the UK, but we’ve had quite a cold winter this year. I’m currently using a 100w infrared heat bulb as the basking source for Rhonda. I am finding this to be too weak but frustratingly, other bulbs such as the 150w Spotlights are far too strong.

Pablo’s (other beardie) vivarium achieves a 40+ Celsius basking spot with a 100w ceramic.. I think my struggle with Rhonda’s vivarium may be due to a colder room? Their vivariums are 4x2x2.

I’ve tried using different variations of bulbs for Rhonda. Ceramics, Spotlights, Infrared. I have purchased 150w floodlights, which I am willing to try but I am not confident with it.

What wattage and variation of bulb is recommended other than the above? I’d appreciate some advice as I’ve spent a fortune on finding the right bulb! Rhonda is 9 years old and in very good health (had recently had vet checks). We’ve never had this dilemma before.

Thanks.

Try the Arcadia halogen- also flukers basking- NO COLORED bulbs please-- are you using a digital probe thermometer for getting surface basking temps - is the basking bulb in the tank or top of screen? If it's in the tank it should be no closer than 6"

Hi Sadie. Thank you for your advice.

There are 2 probe thermometers in the vivarium. One for the cool end, one for the hotter end. I also use a thermal gun to check up on the basking spot.

The basking bulb is placed inside the vivarium. It’s is fitted further away than 6 inches.

I’ll be happy to give the halogen bulb a try and see how this goes.

Thanks

Make sure taking the probe and place it on the spot where he sits for basking-
