My female beardie has been glass surfing lately. When I let her run around she just runs around the house non stop and I can't tell if its normal or of there is a purpose for it, like maybe she's looking for something. One day I had my ac on and she laid down next to the vent with cold air coming out and decided to nap right there. Is this normal? Do beardies like cold sometimes? I'm confused I thought they liked heat. Anyone got any opinions about this?

What time of day was it when u took the picture? Bearded dragons only need a couple hours of heat and uvb , then a meal, then theoretically they could go back to sleep (probably what ur girls doin)
How old is your girl? You might need to be thinking about getting her a lay box if shes older than 9 months) (sometimes they do like cold) i think it was just a Coincidence that she chose to lay there though, when i let my girl out, she runs all over the place, then will find a spot (like yours) and go to sleep there, idk why she does it (especially after she spends all her time wanting to get out, then to just be still and take a nap)

I think it was around 7PM that she did this. And she is about 7 years old. I let her run around and sometimes I have to search all over to find her, but where she was had cold air blowing on her. I like the lay box idea. I didn't know about that. I'll look into this more. Thank for the idea Skybug

7 years old wow! The lay box is for a gravid female (I thought maybe ur girl was younger and becoming sexually mature, and might be having eggs) I think shes just going to bed, same thing happens to me, i have to go on a lizard safari :) to find my girl (usually in a planter box in the shade)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has to play hid and seek with my dragon. I'm new at this. I got two bearded dragons last year from someone that wasn't taking care of them. The other one is 13 and they still try to mate. I didn't really think about her not being fertile. I guess i'll have to look into this as well. She has been digging a lot in her enclosure lately so I wanted to get her something to dig in anyway. I figure she might just be digging to try to get cool. And she's on top I put them together for a quick pic before they start acting up. I have to keep them apart.

Do u think it’s possible you got two males!? Lol thatd be kinda funny, if u lay them on a flat surface and lift of their tails like a dog, i might be able to tell (unless u know for a fact) cute picture, its perfectly fine letting them out together every once and a while, males are always usually stressed (not much u can do to save him) if he’s bothering the female just put him up, you wanna concern ur self with her stress rather than his (not that his isn’t important) she has more than can go wrong with her body than him.

Dragons should never be kept together or even out together --- if the two were males she would of known there would of been a huge fight between the two and disaster would of been the outcome--- she probably has a bred dragon --- I am assuming one is female and the other male--- she needs to keep an eye on her my guess the one is going to lay eggs w/ the behavior shes getting --

lol funny video skybug

I've had a hard time finding any credible source for the maximum age a female beardie can lay eggs. I saw a post of someone saying that their 10 year old was laying eggs. still doing reseach for this but i'm going to try making a lay box and see what happens. Thanks for your advice.

I couldn't find any topsoil so I used garden soil and playsand. I guess top soil has more clay content as the garden soil has more peetmoss and I think bark. Not entirely sure the difference , but I'm trying. She dug all the way to the bottom. I need a deeper digbox I guess.

LAYBOX

potting soil that doesn't have any type of
chemicals or fertilizers in it, mixed with sand, etc. Be sure it is at least 10-12 inches deep & that
the mix is damp enough to where it will hold up to her making a burrow but not sopping wet to
have standing water.

I did get organic soil. I was careful about that. The sand soil ratio is hard. I haven't figured out how to keep it from collapsing yet. I'm going to try compacting it a little if I start her dig over again.

Wow that was fast, first day if having a dig box we got eggs. Only reason I saw was a partial collapse. I feel bad though, gonna have to dispose of the nonfertilized eggs. Does this bother the beardies? When should I dispose of the eggs?

yes I'm sure they're not fertile eggs. I'm just trying to figure out how long I should leave her in the dig box. Should I let her stay till she comes out? After what about of time can I put her back in her normal enclosure?

As soon as shes done take her out, give her a big meal with extra calcium.
