Great information. I'm having a 48x18x18 built and I am looking for 6 mos+ because I am a beginner. Do I need to put a divider in the tank ? also Is there any reason I can't pick up river rock or sand stone at a nursery for the tank if I clean it and boil it first. Also is it safe to use some live aloe plants for decor. Also what are your thoughts on feeding pellets?

I moved this to it's own thread so more people will see it.

I think the tank size would be fine without a divider. Just make sure you supply multiple hides and things for him/her to climb on so they are more comfortable. River rock is fine from a garden store if you clean it. I'm not sure about aloe in the tank, I think if it has thorns on it you want to avoid it so they don't hurt themselves on it. A real aloe plant is handy to have though. I've been buying aloe stalks(?) from the store and rubbing it on them in their baths when they are shedding. As far as pellets go, if you are providing a balanced diet of bugs and greens there is no need for pellets. If you do use them, make sure you wet them first so they expand before your beardie eats them.

I agree with PatsyB that's a great size of enclosure and will allow you to place a good amount of hides and spots for your dragon to stretch out.
I also think that fresh is always best for your dragon to eat not to mention you know exactly what is going in your dragon. There is just soo much you can offer for them to eat that the pellets really are not needed.. If you need the lists of what you can feed feel free to check back at the Information for new owners and click on the 2 links we listed..
Keep us posted and we would love to see pictures of your completed enclosure when it's done..
