My bearded dragon is 2.5 years old and he has been digging/scratching the for the last one month. He digs all day long as in the video. I cannot reason the behaviour behind it. What does he want?

He is eating well, runs a lot, basks. I don't see a behavioral change except this.

Thank you.

I am gonna say your dragon is female - it sounds like she is gravid please set up a lay box for her --

LAYBOX

Plain topsoil that doesn't have any type of chemicals or fertilizers in it, mixed with sand, etc. Be sure it is at least 10-12 inches deep & that the mix is damp enough to where it will hold up to her making a burrow but not sopping wet to have standing water.

Thank you for your answer Sadie. I am not sure my dragon is a male or female however she does not have a partner.

I bought cocopeat for she to dig but its not in the standards that you define. I will be arranging a box. How can be she gravid? Also should I put her on the laybox or she should discover it?

Beardie females can lay unfertilized eggs if there is no male, a dig box like Sadie suggested is a very good idea for her. 50% play sand and 50% organic topsoil is a safe substrate, moistened like Sadie suggested. The cocopeat can cause issues like resp infection, it is not safe for them even though petstores sell it.

Thank you for your answer. I will remove the cocopeat right now and make your suggestion. Is there anyway we make sure about the gender so that I care her as a female. I tried to identify her when she is young but I could not understand.

They are infertile if she's not been w/ a male- please get the lay box set up she may lay more- congratulations you have a female-- you can get rid of them - please add extra or feed calcium on her insects- she needs it w/ laying eggs

I reached out to someone who has more experience than I and this is what she has said
She laid a lot so that may be the entire clutch. Another 2-3 may pop out in the next day or two. She should be fine, looks strong + healthy. :) You can soak her for about 5 minutes to give her a chance to drink, dribble a little water on her nose to get her started. Laying eggs they lose a lot of hydration.
You can set up a laybox for next time, they can lay 3 or more clutches 3-5 weeks apart. So if you see the scratching start again in 3 weeks or so she's probably going to lay again. It's normal and usually no problem.
