Beardie owner soon :D

Hi there!

My name is Alyson and I live in Belgium (Brussels)
I'm a proud owner of a 10 months old ball python named Kaliya (female) and I'm really considering having a beardie
So I wanted a forum with a lot of information and helpful people... And I think I'm on the perfect one !
I'll probably start soon building my terrarium and buy everything that goes with it
If everything goes as planned, pictures will be posted!

Construction has begun !

But I was wondering what you use for lamps/heating..
I know I need a heating bulb and an UVB
But the UVB is it better as a bulb or as a neon?

I'm in the process of building ours too. I ordered a Reptisun T5 HO for the uvb and am going to use a flood light on a dimmer for the basking lamp. Bought a porcelain light socket for the basking lamp. Have another in case I need a CHE, but won't install it until I can test the heat output first. It seems the preferred bulb is the long florescent, not the coiled bulb.

That is what I would suggest too. The Zoomed T5HO high output tubes along with a flood light for basking.Make sure its posited were they can get the UVB light while basking under the flood light. They come in 5.0 & 10.0 depending on the height of your enclosure. How exciting to build your own. I look forward to seeing pictures of your enclosure as you complete it.
