So I have a 1 year old bearded dragon that only poops once every two weeks and will only go when she is in a warm bath and i massage her tummy for awhile. Her temps are good and she eats turnip, collard and mustard greens with crickets every now and then. does anyone know what might be wrong with her or what I can do to help?

Hi guys my pedz does this too I have spent a lot of money getting his Viv just right with calcy sand, new UVB new heat lamp extra wood for activity n changed his diet from worms to crickets and still he will only poop in the bath (my vet says I'm lucky as it saves in cleaning sand) but I am worried I guess reading yours do the same does make me feel better about his behaviour but still I have read so many different things I'm so confused

If you have calcium sand. GET RIDE OF IT NOW. It will cause compaction.

Your beardie will ingest it and it will clump into basically cement. And CAN NOT BE PASSED.

Also a dehydrated beardie has hard time Pooping.

So this is probably why it only poops in the bath with warm water. Mine all 4 poo in there cages. And when I give them a bath within 1 min the poo.

I brought the sand from the exotic pet shop because they said it was better for him and Easier to digest if he ate any trying to catch the crickets... Wish there was just one simple answer everyone stuck to! If not the sand then what? He loves the sand digging in it and laying in it.

How do I get him to drink? I have been worried he doesn't seem to drink anything

Children's washed and sifted play sand is the safest if you desire sand.

To get them to drink take a dropper and drip water on the tip of your beardies nose. Keep doing this until they stop licking it up. Also try a water dish with a cup above it dripping water droplets into water dish like you would for a Chameleon. They can't see standing water. Ripples in the water will attract them to it and once they realize what it is they should continue to go to it. Water is like crack to a beardie.

I tried putting a water fountain in but he didn't pay it any attention I'm gonna do the droplets and get him paying attention to where the water bowl is. Thanks

ALOT of the times beardies do different things when you are not watching them.

For example.

My beardie Stares at the crickets when I used to throw them in and just watch them jump around. But as soon as I walked out of view Bam went crazy attacking them

I syringed Pedz some water today n he seemed happy to receive it however I know they don't drink a great deal so I don't want to give him to much the syringe is 10ml n he had about 6ml today shall I do this daily or what? At least until he starts drinking for himself!

I've never seen my beardie drink!
I'll sit and drip drops onto her nose for 10 minutes and she won't lick any of it! Sometimes I think she wants to lick her lips but because the waters there she doesn't! Weird... I've tried flicking the water so she notices it, again I've sat and done this for about 10 minutes at a time, she stares and watches it so I know she can see it but she has just never drank it, she likes to sit in it though... Just not drink it haha
Any other ways I can keep her hydrated without her drinking??

Dexter just discovered she can drink water, it's like CRACK to her! She gets very excited, just now she just tried to push the bowl around her tank to get to whats inside! I never had a water bowl in her tank but she doesn't eat a lot of salad and she's been licking her lips a lot like she's thirsty. She started drinking her bath water so I put a bowl back in her tank.

She also only poops in the tub. She used to do it in her tank but that stopped. I'm wondering now if her new fascination with her water bowl if she will start doing it again.

That is so adorable!
Pretty sure Haze is in brumation now so I'm trying not to wake her up, it's so hard because I see her sleeping and I just want to pick her up and cuddle her :(((
