My beardie pancake for the past 6 month or so has been really lethargic sometimes doesnt move all day. She also just hasnt been basking unless i move her even then she usually goes back to cool side. She started this around 18 months old. Her temps in her cage are good and she gets bathed usually once a week maybe twice or more if she hasn't pooped in a while. Diet consists of mustard greens, turnip greens, bok choy and occasionally some dubias. Sometimes it looks like she has a bump on her back I will attach a photo but at one point she was so fat we thought she was gravid but she wasn't. Anybody have any tips or ideas? TIA guys!

To start off, what basking bulb are you using? This should be a 125-150W bulb to produce enough heat. It should be a good couple of inches above the dragon when basking.

Also, some dragons are just pure lazy. I wouldn't be concerned if it wasn't for the fact your beardie isn't basking properly, that is an issue.

Regarding the lump, I see a lump on the side of your dragon but I am not sure if that is always there, a pocket of fat, or something to be concerned about.

The best answer would be taking your baby to the vet to be 100% sure. I'm not a professional.

This could be a lighting issue-- what are you using for a UVB? No coils and no colored bulbs please- basking temps should be 95-110 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer-- no stick Ons-- as far as lump I am not sure - but the lighting we need to rule out first

I use the reptisun 10.0 UVB. The long bulb not the coil type and her basking spot is usually right at 100-106 if she is under it she usually is around 106-110. Using a 150watt. Her cold side is usually around 80 85. Her night light is a zilla 75 watt black heat.

The night light produces light or no light?

It does produce a little purple light sort of but barely any light
Any colored bulbs are not good for the dragons--- it disrupts sleep and can cause long term eye damage--- please get rid of it--- if you need heat in tank and it's falling below 65 at nite then get a heat emitter--- dragons have a 3rd eye on top of their heads for predators and it is very sensitive to light

This light doesn’t provide real or colored light does it?

We don’t use night lights, it should be completely dark. If heats an issue get a ceramic heat bulb that produces no light.

Its on top of the cage its the t8
Ok that T 8 needs to go inside the tank the screen is blocking 30% of the rays -- you want the clear plastic fixture off w/ the bulb exposed if there is one---- basking decor needs to be approx 6-8 inches under it --- you can hang the fixture w/ these 3 M command Velcro fasteners- picture hanging wire – long plastic zip ties-- fishing line -- potted plant wire hangers-- TAK TY cable and hook ties they look like Velcro straps look at Walmart not sure if they carry them -- make sure the T 8 is not over 6 months old if it is replace the bulb

Thank you I will give it a try! I am sure to replace the bulb every couple months

Could also be dehydration - our BD acted similarly and when taken to vet found out possibly dehydrated. We syringe fed (look up how first) a little watered down pedialyte several times a day and fed hornworms once a week or so for 4-6 weeks and noticed improvement. She acts normally now. Of course I woudnt start this without some idea of if that could be the case with yours. Our vet did bloodwork. But in all honesty she had been not eating as well because of a tank upgrade (they tend to pout sometimes when their environment is changed), which led to her going off her greens (she’d never loved them but had eaten them here and there but completely stopped and would only eat a few crickets every few days), so hydration was obviously lacking. Good luck and hope you can figure it out.

I may would advise to take her to the vet, she may be pregnant due to how lumpy her belly is. Regardless if she never mated it could be an infertile clutch and she'll need a bit of extra care, such as extra calcium supplements and maybe even a digging box as well as there are some complications that could arise, like egg binding and its better to monitor that with a vet so nothing bad can happen. Even if she is not pregnant I still would be a little concerned about the lumpy belly and would still take her to a vet. Hope I was able to help.
