How much should I feed my juvenile beardie? I feed him every night with as many mealworms as he will eat and a few small pieces of lettuce.

My dragon is 6 months. She eats anywhere from 3-5 times a day. As much as she can eat within a 10 minute window. She easily puts down 60 crickets a day. On top of her greens. They are growing at such a fast pace when they are this little so require more. Mealworms have been said to be no good for dragons. Especially babies. Crickets and dubia roaches are good choices but there’s more choices out there. Lettuce is bad and should not be fed. There’s zero nutrition and it’s all water. It can lead to diarrhea and dehydration. There are several other great options. To name a few daily ones. Collard greens, turnip greens, endive, acorn squash, butternut squash, mustard greens. Google has a list of all things safe and unsafe. I’m sure someone else will chime in also. Good luck with your baby!

Mealworms are not a staple feeder you need to feed crickets dubia roaches I recommend them or silk worms- meal worms should be fed as a treat for older dragons they are suseptable for causing impaction--- he needs greens like mustard collards kale or turnip -- I will post a nutrition website tomorrow- please No more lettuce the only thing it's supplying is hydration which is good but too much will give runny stools

I will stop feeding lettuce immediately, thank you! I have ordered turnip and collard green and I am looking into other types of worms, I’m already feeding crickets. Thanks!

Kale is a good and easily obtained staple green. The more variety of veggies you provide, the better. Mealworms have low nutrition and high chitlin and are better as treats. Hornworms are excellent feeders and grow to be massive sizes, but are mainly water and calcium so even the very large ones can be safely eaten (though you may want to chop them in half if it's excessively large). Keep in mind that crickets are infamous for spreading parasites, and dubia roaches are preferable (but also more expensive and illegal in some areas).
