Beardie Encounter for my 8 year old

Hi all! New here. I live in Maplewood NJ and my daughter really wants to adopt a bearded dragon. She has loved reptiles since age four and we have been researching best practices for a Beardie pet for quite some time. Final step is a place my daughter can get some actual handling experience to see if she really is ready for this new addition to our home. Anyone know where she could go to hold a beardie and get some direct handling experience? Thank you so much!

A reptile expo - please come back here and let me know if she gets one- you will have to help her - bearded dragons are more complex to take care of - they require certain uvb's and surface basking temps etc for them to thrive

Reptile expo is a great idea. Thank you!! Yes - my daughter actually knows the complex equipment requirements for a Beardie. She’s not your average 8 year old Of course we will help her, but seriously - she’s been preparing for several years for this. We definitely want to make sure Beardie isn’t just surviving but thriving in our home.

If you need more help please ask - word of advice No coils for uvb- No off white colored yellowish or daytime bulbs for basking - digital probe thermometers for accurate surface basking temps
