I remembered Patsy writing in on of her posts that she had bridges across her tanks and I thought it was a great idea. Percy spends his evening at the cool end of his viv soaking up UV before bed and I thought it would be great if he could get a lot closer to the tube at that end. I was looking online and to buy they were sooo expensive and they were all short, I needed one to go across a 4ft viv, so I thought I would make my own. I used bamboo threaded onto gardening wire, held up by high load stick on utility hooks (I may change these as I dont trust the adhesive in the high heat, but they are ok for now). I picked him up and put him on it (cos he was looking confused lol) and low and behold he seems to love it. This is where he spends his evenings now.
Lulu has one too of course, she is indifferent ,"bridges?, we don' need no steenkin' bridges"

That is a really cool looking bridge. Have you thought about using screws to mount simian hooks so you do not have to worry about the adhesives in the heat?

by the way, those hygrometers on the back wall are not accurate. I have a proffesional thermohygrometer that says they are out by %5-8 (i have 2 in each tank all out by a hair or 2). Something to be aware of if you have bought similar.
Yes, screw in hooks will be used. Didnt want to put holes in viv but better safe than sorry

Both bridges cost me £5

That looks nice! I use something called the Lizard Lounger, it's a hemp bridge. They also make a weird hammock too.

Oh yeah, Ive seen those Lizard Loungers at the pet store ,they were nearly £30. I will have to take up macrame if I want one(2) of those. They do look great though ,but they dont look easy to clean

Luckily nobody has pooped on one here yet so haven't had any problems!

Seeing as Lulu wasn't remotely interested in her bridge as her basking spot of choice is a guitar side that I had bent then not used,

I did this

Well, waste not want not I say. At least its more easily climbable now, and its still a bridge...kinda.
If you want to try making one of these yourself, make the bridge as above. Then you will need a bandsaw, guitar side bending machine and 30 inches of figured curly grafted walnut....lol perhaps not then. Honestly I never thought I would find a use for those guitar sides, just kept them because it was nice wood, glad I did now. I think Lulu is getting tired of me messing with her stuff though.
