Howdy folks,

I noticed beardeddragon.co has a T5 HO fixture that will fit the T5 10.0 HO bulb, and its way cheaper than the zoomed one. Has anyone bought one? Wondering if its worth a shot.

Thanks
-Brooke

As long as it has a reflector, it should be just fine. Just make sure you can rest it on top of your tank with no problems.

Yeah- looks like theres the option to get reflectors with it. But not sure if itll sit on top like I want it to.

That's what I like about the Zoomed is they sit well on top of the tank. You can also try lightyourreptiles, they might have something at a decent price.

Well, PSA, I asked them, and they said that no, that fixture won't sit on top with the reflectors attached. They're plastic and too flimsy.
Was really trying to avoid buying the ZooMed since it comes with the wrong bulb. But, guess I'm stuck with it.

The Zoomed comes with the wrong bulb but it's okay to hold on to it and use it for emergencies.

Yep I save those bulbs to use if the 10.0 bulb breaks by accident or if I need to buy myself alittle more time to get another 10.0 bulb.. I write on the bulb box how long it was used for..

I broke down and bought one. Good idea. Ill see if I can sell it to someone, if not, ill just hang onto it for emergencies. A short term back up will be good. They seem to sell the bulbs at pet stores around me but not the actual fixture. Odd. So its being shipped. Relying on the great outdoors for UVB until it gets here.

Yep you just never know when a bulb will blow and your left thinking well crap.. So I write the time used on the bulbs so I know how long they were used for..It's nice knowing that I have backups just in case...power surges, knocked into by accident... I've found a few stores that carry the length I am using but yes correct they don't have the hoods.
Good old natural UV exposure is way more effective, just be aware of them getting too hot.
