Hey guys!
I'm new to this forum and I'm thinking of getting a bearded dragon.
Please could anyone answer these few questions I have? thx x
1. Male or female - which is best?
2. Baby or adult - which is best?
3. Any tips of how to convince my mum to let me get one?
and could you tell me any other tips/ideas/comments that you have about getting a bearded dragon etc
thankyou!
All comments will be greatly appreciated xxx

1. - dont have to worry about false pregnancy (or real pregnancy) with males. other than that - no real diff
2. - babies take a LOT of care. ya might want to start with an older beardie - at least 6 months, maybe even better would be a year
3. - a) how old are you? b) how are you going to pay for supplies and food? c) do you have other pets? d) why do you specifically want a beardie?

Get me some more info, please, and i'll get you some more - ok??

thankyou for your answer!

so if I do get one I should get a one year old male, that sounds best to me from what you said?
a. I'm 11. b. I'm saving up around £300 as I've looked at the cost of everything and it adds up to £292.50 which includes food. c. 2 guinea pigs. d. they are fascinating and would an amazing pet, I also know lots about them. thx xxx

I've also asked my mum for a Beardie last night, she hasn't given me an answer yet but with the question I gave her an 11 page powerpoint and a book about bearded dragons made both entirely by me x

If your mum can help you look after it they make great pets. The main thing is to do A LOT of research which it sounds like your doing. Pet shops and some websites are often out of date or miss informed. Getting the right set up from the start will save you time, stress and money. One great way to save some of the set up cost is to get a rescue or a preowned bearded dragon. Then you could save some off your £300 towards any future vet bills or food because live food can be very expensive.

Welcome! If you end up with one for your birthday I would recommend setting it up before the dragon comes to get the heat etc. They are expensive to set up and if you get a baby to feed. Just make sure your parents are aware of everything before you commit to bringing one home. Happy Birthday!
