So for the past week or so here and there and beardie leaves his mouth open for a bit. I’m not sure if this is normal gaping or if there is any other possible reasons. The basking side is between 98-102°. He usually does it on the basking spot but he has done it in other areas of his enclosure. These two pictures are from today and yesterday.

I'm not a beardie expert but mine does that too. I was worried at first too but when beardies bask they will do that sometimes. I don't think its that much of a worry but get some other peoples opinions too:)

I don't think it is particularly abnormal. It is because they are warming up fast and getting hot. I know seem counter intuitive, but this is how the cool. Just like you sweating too cool it doesn't necessarily mean it is to hot.

However, Gaping and arching, he does not seem to bee doing this, can mean RI raspatory infection.
If you were concerned about this, listen to his breathing, is there a wheeze to it or extra saliva or a popping, gurgling sound. If you notice these please see a vet.

That’s normal basking behaviour they are regulating their body temperature. So when their body temperature starts to get a little too high they open out their mouths to release some some of the heat. Kinda like opening up an oven to bring the temp down faster
