I heard back from someone who is more experienced than I on this issue and this is what she has said and asked

Ask them if they have a heat rock [ this could be a burn ] and to post pics of the tank. Also are there other people in the house that might have taken him out and got him injured [ dog, cat attack, etc ] but then didn't admit it and just put him back in his enclosure. That is 100 % not from scraping. That's a very serious wound and needs vet care. In the mean time raw honey will help .

I was going to suggest raw unpasteurized honey as well -- please leave no crickets in the tank they will go straight for the tail --

Ok I would take the hide out then - and get a different one- you can check PetSmart they have nice decor for dragons- I also noticed the two domes over the basking decor- I am assuming your using a coil uvb? If so is it a 13 watt? If that is the case please replace it- they cause so many health issues even death if not caught in time - I can help you get a good uvb which is going to be crucial in the dragons healing of his tail- I can post links for you

I just have the thermometers in the tank
Ok I will post that as well- these things I have asked about are extremely important to his health- in the meantime please get some honey on the tail - it's going to kill any infection and promote healing along w/ good uvb

Here are the websites for the UVB's --
https://www.pangeareptile.com/collections/fixtures/products/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-hood this will come w/a 5.0 bulb keep it for a back up the distance and placement is different from the bulb you want - 22" https://www.pangeareptile.com/colle...d-reptisun-10-0-uvb-t5?variant=26907418591332
you need two of these https://www.pangeareptile.com/colle...meters-1/products/zoo-med-digital-thermometer one for the basking side and one for the cool side - the stick ons give only ambient temps you need actual basking surface temps
https://hydrobuilder.com/sunblaster...mp.html?opts=eyJhdHRyaWJ1dGU5MDEiOiI2NjAxIn0= you want the 2 ft fixture do not use the bulb it comes w/ please get the 22"Reptisun I posted above -- these are good fixtures there is another one that I wanted to post but they are sold out all over the places I looked -
please find out what happened to the dragon my friend is thinking the injury was not caused by the log - she said she uses those same logs and has not had a injury like that to her dragons - something happened there to cause that extent of a injury w/ the muscle and tendons to be showing - the dragon is in a serious predicament w/ losing its tail if not getting proper and quick treatment --
what are you using for your basking bulb? Is it a clear bright white bulb or one that is giving off a yellowish hue or is it a off white bulb -- a daytime bulb?
