Hey guys! I really want to switch my bearded to a bioactive tank or one with sand or soil so that they can dig. I have carpet right now but I just think it’d make them happier having that instead. I know impactation can be a problem with this so are there ones that are better to use than others? I’ve also seen people mix different soils and sands and just need some advice on what would be best. Thanks!

I use clay balls as a drainage layer, a mixture of cocofiber ,dirt, clay, potting soil, playsand(only sand thats rated “play sand” is safe) i have lots of bugs in my beardies tank (springtails, isopods , earwigs, super worms, a millipede(these can be toxic beware) and on the top layer i have repti bark (it can cause compaction , my bd doesn’t eat her substrate and i bowl/hand feed so no accidental ingestion) look up “biodude” on utube he does a bioactive setup for a beardie , it doesn’t have to be hard, it’s quite easy and fun aswell as your lizard friend will appreciate it :)
