Bearded dragon not eating

Throughout my time on this forum, I have usually posted about my beardies problems with inconsistent eating, but now it is gotten worse. He has completely stopped eating his staple feeders (crickets and Dubia roaches) and ONLY eats super worms, hornworms and wax worms. I am aware that these are very unhealthy for a bearded dragon all the time, but he is/was an addict! I cut him off the hornworms and wax worms but he only eats super worms now. I try feeding him crickets every week but he shuns them. I have tried mixing bsfl in with a few wax worms but he always picks out the waxworms and leaves the bsfl. I swear he is the smartest Beardie I know!

This has been going on for a month and I really only try to feed him a super worms a day. He doesn't eat his salads either. I though he was sick, but he has energy and runs around. The minute you show him a superworm he goes wide-eyed and gobbles it up. I am considering the vet, But I'm not sure what they could do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

He is spoiled and now u got picky dragon, i still after close to 2 yrs, haven't got my guy to eat more than touch of salad twice a week,
I went crazy, everything i read said wait him out they are stubborn!
And i found out that this little dragon had more will power than i did :) i couldn't starve him and after like 5 days I'd cave and give him worms!
My Liz is almost 15 and his diet even when i got him was almost 100 %worms, i have got salad in him recently, but worms are his staple against my better judgement, good luck keep trying.

wow! it's great to know there is someone else with a picky Beardie! Is your Beardie still not eating his staple feeders? That is my main problem. Salad is easier for him to get to eat but he only eats super worms! I have tried starving him but then he gets lethargic. But, the minute you pull out a super worm all the energy comes back. He's an amazing actor.

Ya Rusty has favorite horn worms, but i rarely give him them, he eats super worms like 10 a day more probably if i let him, i offer salad everyday i work in a restaurant so he gets best of best greens, only eats dandilon i pick from outside lol
I get crickets for him usually 6 let them go in his tank, and i never see them again, not sure if he actually eats them or not, but i put food out for them so they don't go for him! Here in Canada Dubai is hard to get, and being new to dragons myself i just figured out what bfl are im looking into a supplier for them right now, honestly fir first 6 months i had this guy i did everything wrong, as time went on i started to get caught up on my dragon, and he luckily was good until i figured it out, just keep at your offering and he will let you know what's going on.

Try getting him some silk worms they are a good staple feeder- use them as lures to the salad bowl they stick to everything-
www.reptilianarts.com bulk come w/ no food you would need to get the food and mix w/ water keep in fridge covered- also you need to clean the containers out daily-- cups come w/ the food-
www.coastalsilkworms.com these people are spendy- try those see if it works-

I have tried silkworms in the past, but they always seem to get moldy and die. But I am a big fan of reptilian arts so I might try again. Thanks!

I have a two year old dragon, and the only thing i can get her to eat daily is superworms, i personally dont think they’re as bad as everyone says, of course i heavily gut load mine, my dragon has not eaten one salad since ive had her,.. she’ll eat a bite or two then turn her head, shes been on supers since she was 6 months, ive practically been feeding them as a staple, with no ill affects, with roaches and hornworms here and there, i have noticed over the past year she wants other bugs less and will always take a super,….. she absolutely loves the beetle forms of the supers, try letting some morph and see how ur dragon likes em, they can stink on ur clothes so be aware…. My dragon does get tons of exercise and has a 20x15 area outside to run around in, so i definitely think thats a factor in her health……
