IMO to really appreciate and learn about reptile husbandry one must alwys raise them from babies, getting an adult for me is like walking in halfway through a movie then sitting down to finish it.

I have to agree with Francis. I love getting them as babies. You know most of their health history, you bond better, and you can learn about husbandry better. I've purchased adults and babies and even though adults can be a bit cheaper in some ways I still prefer the babies.

I just recently got a baby and to watch them grow is an experience in itself. I love the different stages they go through and enjoy watching them change colors and personality. Plus if you get a baby you know their disposition. To add if you have a month or a month and a half before getting a baby that adds to the research you can do before he/she arrives.

Baby.
I started with 2 babies and 1 juvie... Then added a female juvie...
I have to admit.. babies certainly kept me on my toes.. And I got to watch all the changes.
Hope this helps.

from a breeder standpoint the 2 dragons that I have that I raised from hatchlings carry a much stronger bond for me than the adults and sub-adults that I have received and/or puchased for the purposes of breeding. You get a much stronger feeling of being connected to the ones that you watch grow from a itty bitty to an adult.

I would have to say baby as well. I got Yoyo when he was a week old and I am very attached to him. It's been a wonderful experience watching him grow from the size of my finger to the 21 inch dragon he is today.

I initially wanted a baby, but since my brother was the one "getting" the beardie, we didn't want to lay too much responsibility on him. Plus, We got a discount off coco from his breeder just because he had a weird foot (crickets bit 2 of his toes off) He's 4 months, so still kinda a baby :) The next time I get one, I'm aiming for a baby.
