Hey so I finally have my baby!! Couple days now seems all comfortable and whatnot seemed like wanted to come out all bouncy trying to climb up the back wall up the hammock. So okay gets taken out. Then almost immediately starts to take a nap in my hand.. And then was put on my chest so I could post this topic.. And is still napping.. Lol Is this normal I would expect a youngin to wanna run around and be a handful lol. I know in a lot of other animals that his is normal babies need to sleep a lot to grow. Is this a normal thing for baby beardies though..?

Congrats! Would love to see your baby...There could be different reasons for the behavior.. Depending on your set up he/she may be trying to get away from something in the enclosure. Could just be that he/she just wanted some attention. Depending on the time of day he/she could be searching for a comfy spot to nap or if it's bed time to sleep. A growing BD will nap. Could also be wrong lighting. As I type this mine is asleep on my chest under a fleece blanket but it is 7pm here and once night time falls she goes to sleep for the night. Each BD has their own personalities but for the most part they are docile laid back critters, mine loves to run around a room that is a critter friendly room for awhile, other times she just chills out.

Thanks for the reply! I guess that makes me feel I tad better it also hasn't been that long yet! Only a couple days still gotta figure out the little ones personality in the first place lol. I'm so excited though! Doesn't seem uncomfortable or scared at all already exploring all over the place in its new home and eating too! So happy I didn't have to worry about that like I've seen some people post about there beardie not eating for like a week because of the new home process. I feel so blessed. [emoji4][emoji7] and it's obviously so comfortable with me already doesn't freak out when I go to get it out of the tank and just chills out with me while I'm on my phone or watching tv. So happy! [emoji13] and oh yeah by the way reason why I'm saying it is because too young to see if it's a male or female can't tell yet.

Do you know how old he/she is? Have you read on how to use a LED flashlight at the base of their tail? But it is difficult to sex them until they are 5+ months. I went back and forth on Izzy for several months :) but I am sure now lol she only has 1 bump :)
What is your set up like? what are you feeding? don't worry if he/she doesn't eat the salads/fruits as being a baby/juvie they won't eat much of that as they will primarily eat insects, but keep offering the salads/fruits variety is good! Are you doing supplements/vits? Got UVB bulbs going?

Just 2 months. And yeah I've read about it. It's alright I'll just wait for the surprise lol. But yeah I have all that stuff eating crickets. And I'm offering collard greens haven't done fruits yet and do have vits and calcium. I think everything's okay just gotta pay attention. Still very new home for it. Thanks though!!

Yep that's a baby baby :) They are eating machines so be warned your going to go thru alot! I used to raise crickets and buying bulk online is the way to go however Dubia roaches are WAY more nutritious 1 roach = 5 crickets (depending on where you are make sure they are legal I know FL they are not) I am raising my own colony that is finally starting to produce...
