Baby just ate his hammock!

Ok...my Baby just ate a chunk out of his hammock and I have no idea why he would do that because I just fed him an hour ago so he shouldn't be hungry, but now I am concerned he is going to get very sick. Do you think he'll just poop it out and it will pass through him or should I be worried?? It's some type of plastic material that has strings in it that are now hanging out from where he bit it. Does anyone know why he would do this type of behavior in the first place? And I feel like I am just going to have to keep an eye out on him and make sure he poops but I guess I just don't know what to do, if anything???? If anyone can offer any suggestions, Id greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Pretty much a wait & see situation. Depending on how big a chunk he swallowed, if he did swallow anything. I wouldn't get overly worried & keep a close eye on his bowel movements over the next week. Maybe give an extra warm soak or 2 over the next few days ...

Did you actually see him eat it? Maybe he just snagged it somehow. If he did eat it keep an eye out for it in his stools to know when he passes it. Kratos got too aggressive with a roach and snagged a small piece of paper towel which I was temporarily using to cover the cage floor while some tiles are being cut. It came out yesterday (2 days after he ingested it).

Cass ate newspaper one time... when she was prego she shredded it up and started nibbling on it. Hopefully baby will be fine! Cass passed the newspaper okay.

They eat the strangest things. Allie's eaten paper towels before, if they're the cheap kind.

Thanks so much everyone for responding! The good news is that Baby had a bowel movement today and it had a tiny bit of string in it but that is about it, and he is still eating and acting fine! YAY!! So glad he didn't get seriously hurt! Beardies are so silly! :D

I'm glad he had one, but maybe tomorrow he'll have another one with more string. I bought play sand and mine decided to taste it for the first time. (I'm not sure if she likes it or not because none of it's in her tank. It's in a storage container the size of a shoe box.)

They will do that, BDs check out their environment with their tongue. This will soon stop as it becomes familiar with it.

Oh BeardieBaby....that is just too funny. I know it has really worried you but I would never even begin to think a beardie would take a chunk out of their hammock. He will be ok....you will just have to put yourself on 'poop watch'!! :D

@Pat- Haha, I never would have guessed of a bearded dragon eating their hammock either! Silly little creatures! But I have been on 'poop watch'! LOL....he hasn't gone today but he ate more crickets today than he did yesterday so hopefully he'll be giving me a nice present tomorrow! ;)
