I got my bearded dragon 3 weeks ago, he is now around 10 weeks old and 8 inches nose to tail (I will attach pictures below (there is a 3 on his tail so the breeder I got him from would know which dragon is with among the hatchlings)). Ever since I got him he's only pooped about 3 or 4 times. He didn't poop for about 4 days and today he let out a urate with the slightest bit of liquid around it and about an hour later he pooped. For the past 2 weeks he's eaten every day about 5-9 waxworms on somedays and 5-9 super worms on other days but I stopped feeding the super worms since I heard they can cause impaction. Basking temps are around 100-115 usually around 107, measured with an All Living Things digital thermometer. He is misted once a day and a water bowl is kept in his cage at all times but he usually doesn't go near it. For Basking and UVB I use the Exo-Terra Mercury Vapor bulb 125w, its about 9 inches away from his basking rock but he usually sits in his tree which isn't directly under the light but off to the side by about 4-5 inches and about 5 inches from the bulb. He'll sit in the tree for hours at a time but a few times a day he'll go to his basking rock. He is in a temporary 20 gallon tank which he'll be in for a few months. I know some dragons go 2-3 days without pooping but I don't think 4-6 days is very normal. Please help...

Welcome - he is adorable! First -breathe. He's probably ok - they almost always are. Superworms are probably a bit on the large side for this little guy. Wax worms provide a lot of fat - good for weight, but i'd like to see you adding some variety. crickets and small (just a bit larger than nymph) dubia roaches. most of us here prefer the roaches cuz they don't stink and make noise like the crickets. the rule of thumb is nothing larger than the space between his eyes. what kind of substrate do you have? I would recommend taking the water bowl out. very seldom will they drink from standing water. and - it can cause an unwanted increase in humidity. I would also like to see you offering some greens. as in veggies. he may not take to them right away, but may. generally, babies eat more protein and adults eat more veggies. generally. my current adult male poops daily. my adult female poops usually once a week. my last adult male once went 3 weeks without pooping - it was shortly after I got him. I later learned about a condition which may be called "moving sickness" - they just take some time to get acclimated to their new surroundings. he's a little guy. he aint gonna poop a whole lot. veggies may help. you can also try giving him a warm bath. sometimes getting them to soak can loosen things up. some beardies love the water, some don't. please don't leave him unattended - it wouldn't take much water for this little one to get into danger. this is an adventure - enjoy the journey !! (please see the links below my signature - a couple of our members contributed to these fantastic references - well worth the read!!!) keep us posted --

I tried dubia roaches but he tried one and just wouldn't eat any more! I've also tried escarole and he'll usually take a piece directly from my hand but only will take a single piece and not want anymore especially when I just put it in a bowl or on a plate. I wanted to try romain lettuce but was told it wasn't good for them. I use plain white paper towels for substrate and humidity is at about 10% but I will definitely remove the water dish. Also, I have tried a warm bath twice in my bathroom sink but I'll lower him into the water which won't even be as high as half his legs and he'll freak out and try to run. I've heard about massaging olive oil on his belly daily to get things flowing but haven't gotten to trying it yet. After an attempted bath he'll get sassy and open his mouth at me but won't lunge and will still let me pet him and pick him up. It's almost as if he's warning me not to put him back in that water lol.

he was savin it !!! its not so much that romain lettuce is bad, its mostly that its just not good - there are virtually no nutrients in romain. so many other things to try. and - they change what they will eat. mine are currently both devouring chopped pea pods. and cucumber. they've gone through phases with sweet potato, watercress, arugula etc -- Water can be scary for some of them. let him hold onto your hand while you gently and slowly lower him into lukewarm water. sometimes my girl will actually swim over to the faucet and let it "rain" on her. sometimes my boy will stick his head under the water and pretend he's a fish. and other times they will both fight to get out. It is a journey !!

My guess is it's the super worms. When I started using supers as a staple for my male, he went from pooping everyday to going once every 3 days. Just rescued a female in December and she was going FOUR times a day eating just crickets and a few hornworms. I switched her over to super worms and now she leaves giant poops every 3-4 days. I would try offering more variety. Dubia, hornworms, silkworms. Also add some good hearty greens and veggies here's a link for veggies

If he is hungry he will eat dubia. Wait him out. Don't give him anything else until he eats the dubia. You are the one in control. He won't die if it takes a few days. In the wild they may go a week without food.
