Hi, I have recently got home from being away for 11 days and I have had a friend house sitting and looking after my beardie.

Since I have been home my beardie seems to be acting differently. Yesterday she seemed OK but I was a bit busy unpacking, food shopping and a few other things. Today I have noticed she seems a lot less active, wanting to stay hidden in dark places.

She has never really bothered to eat her veggies or fruit but has always eating her insects which she is still doing so doesn't seem to be a change in her appetite. She has no signs of stress meaning no black or puffed out beard, no sign of droopy eyes etc.

My friend decided to change her routine with her lighting that I had, I have always turned them on at 9am and off at 9pm but whilst I was gone it was 11-11 but she now back to 9-9.

Also she has just finished her first shed since I have had her so could this be a reason why?

Shes probably going thru a slow period which is normal this time of year-- has she brumated before? How old is the dragon and what are your surface basking temps and how are you taking them? I want to make sure your lighting and temps are on par and we dont automatically assume its brumation as sometimes off temps and UVB will simulate that -- what kind of UVB are you using and how old is the bulb? NO coils please

She hasn't gone into brumation before as I have only had her for just over 1 month. She is roughly about 4-5 months old. I have a prot5 39watt uvb and the temps are 41°c on the warm side and 24°c on the cool side

She has a wooden tank 4x2x2 with glass doors. The heat bulb and uvb light are screwed into the top and then an ceramic bulb screwed in as well which goes on at night when the other lights go off.

Make sure the uvb has a piece of basking decor directly under it approx 12-15 inches and the basking bulb is not closer than 6" or it will burn her- temps at night ambient should be 65-75 F for best nights sleep- as long as she's eating that's good her appetite will pick up as she acclimates to her tank and surroundings- w/ all this on par she should thrive

Ye she has a log that she normally sits on under the lights. Have you got any advice on how to help her eat her veggies as she doesn't eat them. She loves her daily cockroaches though and she has 3 wax worms once a week

Ok so get her some BSFL also know as phoenix worms or calci worms and good staple for babies drop 20-25 on the salads in the morning before feeding any of the main staple feeder - if she eats them too fast they can come out undigested - the wax worms should be fed sparingly they are too fatty and too many can cause liver damage - I would get her some morio worms / super worms feed 1-3 on the salads too as lures a couple times per week - silk worms are good too they are a staple add them on top of the salads they stick to everything - these are all variety insects / worms another good worm is horn worms - they are a hydrating worm - feed to you feed off they do grow very fast --

Cut the greens and veggies into bite-sized pieces then wet it so the live food sticks to it. This way she'll get some of the greens when she eats a worm.
