I know this has been asked several times recently, but I didn't want to confuse the other people's threads.

Critter has a couple weird spots on the tip of his tail, and I wanted an opinion. The first picture is when his tail was underwater in the bath, and the second it's in the air but wet. You can see there are a couple "pinched" spots and possibly missing scales. image.jpegimage.jpeg

The pinched spots look like stubborn shed that is stick around the tail. Keep doing baths, scrub with a tooth brush. You can put 100%pure aloe on the tail, I like to take a leaf off the plant and rub it on. Just make sure it soaks in before you put him back under the light.

to me it looks like it got pinched under something...Izzy had a spot like that and it ended up falling off. Keep tabs on it and if it starts getting worse or spreading down the tail get it checked asap.. do the soaks and aloe

Its the beginning stages of tail rot. If there is stuck shed there that is constricting blood flow, you need to do long soaks in the bath and gently work at it with a toothbrush. If it was actually pinched by something, it will probably turn into tail rot. I would attempt the baths and scrubs regardless just to make sure. Bayne had stuck shed which caused his tail rot, but I couldn't tell by looking at it. If it gets worse or spreads at all, you need to get him to a vet. Thankfully Bayne only had to have 3cm amputated, but it does get worse and will spread up the tail and to the organs. Baynes amputation was about $180, but it was well worth it. He has full use of his tail and I don't think he even knows that part of it is missing. I think his little "quirk" makes him that much more adorable.
