Hi I just got my beardie about a month and a half ago and I was told to feed them kale and mealworms….. soooo.. yeah thats what Ive been doing. she's about 4 months old. i feed her three times a day and sometimes I feed her those dead crickets you can get in the pet store. I of course cut them into appropriate size. I haven't have any problems with her and she poops and is energetic and is always hydrated.. This is my first beardie and I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. :]

It's best to give a variety of foods that meet their nutritional needs. Kale is okay every now and then but mix it up with some mustard greens, collard greens or dandelion greens. There is a web site called www.beautifuldragons.com that will give you great ideas on different veggies to feed.

At this stage in their life they need lots of protein, try to start feeding live food. Meal worms are mostly shell so they aren't the most nutritious. Canned crickets are kinda gross, not sure what they put in those cans to preserve the crickets but it can't be good. Try real crickets, dubias, nightcrawlers, calciworms, phoenix worms, hornworms, or silk worms.

I am buying them too. I didn't dare tell hubby they turn into flies. The roaches were bad enough if flies get loose he will kill me. I think you can refrigerate them like mealworms to slow them down and can be kept for months. So I plan to just take out what I know they will eat at a time.
