Let's see, we have given a caged captive animal it's freedom for a short time, it quite possibly realizes that it's going back to the cage . They are a captive creature, even though their enclosure is the best place for them because it provides the proper environment for their health & wellbeing, doesn't mean they actually really like it. Whether we like to look at it like this or not, because it is a sobering thought, what we really are doing is jailing these guys. Similar to any prisoner after a few hours in the yard, they don't much appreciate being put back in their cell, no matter how comfy we try to make it. But because we want to extend their lifespan as long as we can, it must be done, & extended time outside of their proper environment will shorten it. Just like us, there are many things that we would likely much prefer to be doing, that may not be really in our health's best interests, rather than doing what is.
As for your Brother, I've heard of it said of people having green thumbs, does he have a green toe ? Joking aside, there are many unexplained actions that you will run across, not everything has a clear cut answer or reason.
