Hi all. My son has just got himself a bearded dragon. He’s around 6 weeks old. As my son is new to this, he’s not really sure about best diet to start him on. At the moment he’s given the baby small locusts and a bit of broccoli, lettuce and rocket. Advice he got off the seller. After reading up on internet, I’ve found conflicting advice. Some say broccoli lettuce is a no and rocket is fine. Others say opposite. Can anyone tell me the best diet to start off with so I can’t pass correct info onto my son before he feeds the youngster something that affects its health. Cheers

lighting and basking temps in the tank are crucial --- what are you using for a UVB? NO coils they are inadequate --- Here is a website for nutrition - please NO more Broccoli and Lettuce - ignore the kale thing its a good staple feeder
http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html Rocket is very good staple feeder -- I am assuming your not in the states? your dragon needs a staple insect feeder -- dusted 5 x per week w/ calcium D3 and vitamins w/ beta corotene 2 x per week -- each time at one feeding if your feeding insects 2 time per day -- at this time his diet is 80% insects 20% salads --- you want him eating salads now as well -

Im in uk in Yorkshire and don’t struggle to get anything, I tend to get kale, carrots, red bell pepper, cucumber (with no skin so just the inside)
On occasion I give broccoli and Brussels sprouts. I also buy plenty of cress, you can put this in salad or I like to just put a cress plant in the viv and he will just nibble at it.
Fruits I’d go
Apple, bananas, pineapple raspberries, plums, peaches and pears. Dragons also like watermelon, pineapples, cherries, and grapes

With live Food I just order mine from
A tub of waxworms a week, and plenty of small Dubia roaches. Postman brings them within 2 days

Waxworms will cause liver issues if given on a regular basis- they are fatty- they should be given sparingly- super worms or meal worms - meal worms more for adults not babies because of the exoskeleton-
