Adding a second bearded dragon?

I am thinking about adding a second beardie to the family. I recently built a new 75 gallon tank for Gomez to move into. However he is having a hard time getting around it and really using it. He is ten years old. I have a separate 40 gallon tank that was his. I am thinking about getting a new juvenile and putting him in the 40 gallon. If gomez is still having a hard time getting around the new tank i will eventually switch him back to the senior friendly 40 gallon and move the younger one to the 75 gallon. I don't want a bunch of beardies but I couldn't imagine not having atleast one and with gomez getting older and having two completely set up tanks I am thinking its as a good time as any to add another baby to the mix. Am I crazy for thinking that? Any of you guys own multiple dragons? Is it manageable time and money wise?

I own 2. We got Luci a year after we got Dexter. It's been a little challenging. Dexter was used to always being out of her tank and free roam of the house. With the addition of Luci there is more of a guard up. The first 9 months we were okay and they could be out of their tanks at the same time in the same room, even on the floor together or couch together. It got to a point that we had to separate them. One on the couch, one on the floor or one in it's tank while the other was out having fun.

It is fun having 2 bearded dragons. They both have completely different personalities and it's fun to watch them develop those personalities. Dexter is very emotional and loves physical contact. Luci is more free spirited and doesn't like to be cuddled or petted much. If you have enough time to divide between multiple animals I think it's rewarding. Money wise, it's just the additional set up, you already have the food so that's not going to be much more.

Yeah I think now is a good time to do it. Like you said I have both enclosures. So just cost of the dragon, the cost of replacing the bulbs and then food but honestly I have been going to petsmart and buying 50 or so crickets and using them all week and it cost almost 8 dollars vs I recently discovered I can go online and get 500 for like 22 dollars which I am going to start doing so whatever money I was paying for food will probably still be the same as it was now that I buy in bulk. Gomez doesn't ever move when I sit him on the floor or bed or wherever it may be. He is very content on me however and has been that way since he was a juvenile, he used to just fall asleep on me all the time.

I just commented on your other post! Buying crickets online is the best route. Babies need smaller crickets to start and they eat A LOT. Dexter used to eat 60 a day! I have a 10 gallon fish tank with one of those metal lids with the holes in it and I buy 1000 at a time and keep them in there with cricket quencher, dry cricket food and greens. My dragons eat super worms mostly now (I still have to buy crickets for my frogs and chameleon) and I do the same with them. I have an old 5 gallon tank with wheat bran and they are happy as clams until they get eaten!
