Abused bearded dragon

Recently I got a 3 year old female dragon. (Called Izzy)
I already have one which is about 5 months old, so I have a grasp on how to look after them.
Izzy was in horrible conditions when I took her on, the owners didn't clean her out and there was moldy food all over her viv. She seems to be eating okay, and seems to have a healthy appitite.
Shes also been getting more of her colour back. (She didn't have a basking lamp or a UV lamp when she first came to me).
The only problem is; she's scared of me.
I've been trying my hardest to get her to trust me, but everytime I put my hand in her viv (From the side so she can see me and I don't startle her) she puffs up and starts hissing at me. Does anyone have any tips for me?

At times wrapping them in a soft Baby type blanket or towel for initial handling has been known to help. The warmth seems to have a calming effect on some aggressive BDs & also may protect you from getting scratched up while safely confining it. You didn't mention exactly how long it has been in your care, if it has been a short time, just leaving it alone to get used to it's new environment & associate you as it's food source & not a threat or predator, may help.

Glad to hear of you rescuing her ...

I've only had her a couple of days. I didn't know the full story of how just badly tret she was when I got her, so I didn't realise just how aggressive she was. I've been trying to hand feed her but she's having none of it. But thanks for the advice. I'll try again with a towel in a couple of weeks, my hands are already scratched up pretty bad from having to move her out when sorting the vivarium out.

And thanks I'll need it!:D

It might take a little time to adjust. I'm sure she appreciates the clean environment & will be comfortable in no time.

I think she does, she seems happier now, especially now she has a basking light and a UV that's on for the right amount of time.
