A Sad Day

As you all are aware, the babies have hatched.
It is not all however a rosy picture concerning two of the babies.

One has been born with a gammy left back leg, it seems fused to the tail. He/she is however moving around ok.
The other one has been born with only a right eye, the left has not developed, where the eye should be there is just smooth skin.

I considered euthanasing them, but my wife has said that if I do, she will divorce me.

These two little ones will have the best quality of life we can give them till the day they die. We will be keeping them.

Ah... I'm sorry to hear these two were hatched like that... Glad, however to hear they will enjoy your family for their life's duration.
*warm hugs*.

Sorry to hear these hatched like that. I am sure they will have a good life with you. Keep us updated on their progress and although they are not "perfect" would still like to see them.

Sorry to hear how the babies hatched but don't feel too bad because I have no doubts they will be content knowing they have a great caretaker.

Dont think of them as disformed or NOT perfect. They are perfect in their own special way.
Most of the time it is the "Non-perfect, cripled, malformed etc...." ones that has the GREATEST of personalities and gives you more love and joy that you could imagine.

I would very much like to be kept updated on how those two do! Those "less perfect" always tend to find a special place in our hearts.

Good to know you'll provide a home for them for life. Sometimes thats a hard thing to do and watch.

Being the bearer of bad news I am.......you might consider the underlying causes of the deformities. It's difficult to track, but chances are it's genetic somewhere in either the male or the female.

Again, sorry you have to experience this. You'll learn alot from them, so watch closely.

Handicapable is a perfect explanation. I have a soft spot for people and animals like this.

If I had the money and the resources, I would TOTALLY adopt the little one-eyed bugger and name him Odin. Sometimes little handicaps like that add personality to the animal. :)

Name him Odin and give him extra crickets for me!

Thank You everyone for the encouraging words.
I promise you all that I sit here writing with a huge lump in my throat, fighting back the tears.

Valkyrie, Odin it shall be. I will post pics of these two on Monday.

Odin is very weak, I have to admit, and I seriously doubt that he/she is going to make it.

Can someone please name the other three legged one, who by the way can moved just as fast, climb just as well, and jump just as far as his normal siblings.

Of the four remaining eggs, one I think is "Dead In The Egg" as it has completely deflated for about 36 hours now with no sign of the shell being breached. The other three eggs are still plump, swollen and firm, however with no sign of anything happening almost three days after the first babies hatched, I am at the point of giving up.
