I'm so impressed with Hef and his brumation and how he came out of it. They know what to do all by themselves. I stressed at each phase of it. Is this normal is he gonna get sick. What's it gonna look like when he comes out of it. Then when it was clear he was coming out of it I was trying to encourage him to eat veggies right away but he knew he had to get some good protein in first then take a good poop once his tummy was all moving again then he ate his veggies. He is so active and happy and he looks great. He's very demanding now when he wants out of his house. We all missed him so much he's had alot of attention the past few weeks. He woke up to new frog neighbors that he likes to look at . It was a looooong process.

He looks great!! Way to go and yep they only do what is natural for them and instinctual but they make us worry and stress while they do what they do... I'm learning if Izzy doesn't wanna eat it's ok she'll eat soon enough (like right now....sigh)

Ya next time will be smooth sailing. I've never heard of an animal that quits eating for 6 months of the year.

My boyfriend is finally starting to understand the brummation thing. Dexter came out for 5 days and then went back in her hide yesterday. He said he didn't realize that they could come out and get baths and maybe eat if they wanted to. Now he feels better about her sleeping. I don't, but he does.

Awe Dexter :( it must be in the air Izzy hasn't wanted to come out of her cool hide for the last couple of days too and hasn't eaten grrr I thought she was ending her partial brummation but then again the weather turned cool again so maybe they sense that..

Be careful what you wish for.Hef woke up on beast mode. He wants out always. He keeps me busy till 5pm then he chills out.

When Dexter woke up last week she was on high alert too. Charged around her tank, she looked like she was on speed. I just peeked in at her, she has her head near the opening and she's staring at me LOL!
