right now mila is going through a full body shed and getting a new cage... but she's been really upset with me lately... Not with everyone, just me! Both my husband and i are wondering if it has anything to do with her being jealous of my pregnancy? Do dragons sense these type of things just like a dog would?

I doubt that. Shedding to a reptile is like having a sunburn peeling to us...

Enough to make anything grumpy... Certainly uncomfortable at best!

Hope this helps out !

Funny thing about animals, all animals. They can "smell" fear, ease, sadness, contempt, and in many cases they do react accordingly.
When I was pregnant (no comments from the peanut gallery on how long ago that was!) i had a burmese python that wanted to eat me. Problem was, she could i think. Apparently females carrying young (whatever the species) puts off a smell different from other things. I've observed quirky type behavior in in other animals as well.
It's not jealousy per se...........but more chemical.

I think I've observed probably 7 different reptile species in this Candice. And I can't tell you the number of mammals. (i'll stick with the cold blooded)

I had some blood samples taken from myself, and females and of the species i watched to verify that hormone levels were increased. Hormones, like pheromones have smells.

Not exactly conclusive. But enough for someone to carry on if they have another 10 years to give it a go.

you should be up for that right?

I would totally do it if I knew how and were having a child anytime soon. Stuff like that fascinates me

I forgot to ask. Did you notice if it was gender specific or if both males and females reacted the same?

I've got different notes on each. The males of 3 species took on protective behavioral reactions to outside interferences. the others didn't really seem stressed about it. The females were typically ill natured, although it was only 2 that became aggressively confrontational. The last week to 2 weeks of my own pregnancy, they seemed to calm down.

I'm almost certain there has been a complete study using orangutans and another involving canines.

wow it is pretty interesting... another reason why i ask jealousy though is because when I begin to hug or show my husband affection she gets mad! she gives me the stink eye opens her mouth or sometimes gets a black beard.. I think Mila wants my man to herself :p
