Bearded Dragon Egg

Hey All!

I have a male bearded dragon that is a year old, while at a reptile expo I came across a gorgeous girl I couldn’t let go. I bought her by no means do I have any intentions on breeding them but he gets so upset when he sees her starts head bobbing and his beard turns black. I would like for them to be cordial when they see each other. I will never have them out at the same time but if they do happen to see each other I would like for them to not care. Will he eventually get over seeing her?

Also, will she produce eggs just by seeing a male? How do they even know that they are male and female if they only see each other through the tank glass? Thanks for helping! She was sort of an impulse buy but I knew I could give her a better home than the plastic container she was is. ;)

He will never be okay seeing her. I have a boy and 2 girls in separate tanks. The tanks are stacked so they can't see each other on a day to day basis but the boy will get a glimpse of the girls if I take them out to bring them in the other room. That's the only time they see each other.

They can smell the pheromones of the other, that's how they know the difference between a boy and a girl. Females can produce infertile eggs at any time. Some people say that with a male just in the house it increases the chances of them of laying them but I disagree. I have 2 girls, my oldest just turned 6 and has been in the house with the male for 5 years, she even used to have time out of the tank with him before his hormones kicked in, she has never laid eggs. My other female is a rescue and she is about 5 years old. She waves and bobs her head at him while he is black bearding and bobbing his head, she has never laid eggs either and they have been in the same house (separate tanks) for 3 years.
