So i got my beardie from a friend who wasnt taking care of him. Now he has a heat source, gets crickets/mealworms/veggies/other bugs regulalry. I have only had him since Wednesday. he had let me hold him a few times but tonight he ran away from me...should i be concerned??

Nothing to be worried about. He's still settling in to his new home. Don't try to force things with him, take it slow. Hold him for a few minutes at a time so he can get used to you. You can also put an article of your clothing in his tank so he can get used to your smell.

both of mine try to get away from me periodically. i have learned that when my girl wants down, she either has to poo (learned that the hard way) or she's ready to chill. my boy just likes to run around. a little lovin is ok, but he's an independent soul !

That's good, just keep it up. Just like us they can get into a mood. I got my boy Luci when he was about a month old and he let me hold him the first few days and after that it was a struggle to gain trust for the next 6 months. He's now 2 and is a little sweetheart in his own way.

Sorry, I tried to edit that entry but the system would not allow me to.

I'm glad he has you to care for him!

Thank you!!!

He confuses me...he runs from me alot :( i still pet him but he wont let me do it for long. Not letting me hold him. And he keeps turning black and then back to his normal color.

Oh, and had him checked...apparantly he is a hypo citrus?

Sounds like my girl Dexter! She's a hypo and I believe she is a citrus. She's mostly an orangy yellow color. Sometimes she looks real light and yellow and sometimes she gets dark orange.

He'll come around, it may take some time. Keep holding him for short periods extending the time as he lets you. Pet him while he's in the tank, talk to him, sing to him, anything that gets him used to you.

PatsyB is SO right! They just need time to get used to us.

I swear my Rex just puts up with me!
