Normally mine will thrash around till he gets tired and settles down. I lightly hold his tail while he is trying to escape. Once he is tired and settled down he seems to like it. I leave him in until he poops. I do keep the water between warm and hot but not too hot.

I use ceramic tile in the basking part of my tank. It is easy to clean and my BD always lays on it. I highly recommend using it. It is also inexpensive and comes in some nice sand looking patterns and textures. You can pick up the tiles at Home Depot or Lowes. I suggest getting the largest size...
I've heard of it but never tried it. I would only try it if mine wasn't eating. Anything to get them to eat! As they get older and you have one for a few years the obsessive worrying about them eating goes away. It did at least in my case.

I am always happy that mine went in his bath. I never wanted him going in his tank once I got him used to going in his bath. Be glad that he would rather not go in his tank as long as you have the time to give a bath.

No problem. Also you don't need to keep a water dish in the tank and would not recommend sand. I use ceramic tile in areas and repticarpet in others. Daily baths in warm water in the sink is also good. Mine always goes to the bathroom in the sink so his cage stays clean.

They need to know the difference between day and night so you need to turn the lights out at night. In the winter I leave a ceramic heat bulb on all night because it gets cold in his room.

Mine still thrashes around and tries to get out of the sink right away but eventually he gets tired and chills out. This is his exercise for the day. Mine hated getting misted also.

I also use is some areas of my tank ceramic tile. You can get single pieces at Home Depot or Lowes. The textured sand looking tile looks nice in the tank and cleans easily. In addition, I normally get mine to go to the bathroom in our bathroom sink while soaking in warm water. This works almost...
I use one of those ceramic heat bulbs to keep mine warmer at night. I also use it all day during the winter when the house is colder. When mine poops right away in the sink I take him right out, empty all the water and put fresh water in to take a longer bath. I did this every day when he was a...
