    Anyone use bio active setups?

    What she said. :)

    Mercury Vapor Bulb

I think that a heat bulb and tube UVB is the way to go for sure over MVB. Not only are the MVBs ridiculously expensive, but if you use one the dragon can't get UVB unless it's basking. I know you mentioned using a tube AND MVB, but then why have the MVB at all in that case?

    Temp. gun and probes

I've been using the temp gun more often, too. I like that I can spot check various areas and tweak slightly. I used the probes to help assure everything was good to go when setting up his new tank. But I can't put the probe where he basks or he lays right on it, it gets pushed to the side, and...

New dragon owner and have some question!

Welcome! There's a lot of great information in this thread for starters. Take a peek and come back with more questions. I think your questions above can be answered here. Thanks for looking for the best information out there on caring for this guy...

I need some advice on probably everything

I responded at length in one of your other threads, but the thing with this sand is that it's likely "Calcisand" which is marketed towards bearded dragons but actually can cause impaction problems specifically. There are some that use a play sand/top soil mix with healthy dragons with a perfect...

    so...now I have 2 bearded dragons

If it's the calcisand (likely) you should get rid of it because it can clump and cause impaction issues (even though it's marketed for them). People use play sand, often mixed with top soil 50/50 BUT the setup has to be perfect and you need healthy dragons to do that safely. Most people here...

    Basking lamp Q

I got a 90 watt and a dimmer. I couldn't find anything higher than a 90 watt in Home Depot or Lowes. I don't have the screen top for the tank yet so can't test it. If the 90 isn't sufficient, I'll have to find a higher wattage online.

    Meet Calvin!

Got a clear bill of health from the vet! Whoop! You guys were right. I got a 4 foot T5HO but sent it back as the 36 will be easier to mount in the tank. When that gets here (plus screen top) and I get the temps squared away, he can move into his new digs!

    Meet Calvin!

Thanks! Got his new tank today - it needs to be cleaned and setup and then he'll be good to go. He loves his veggies!

    Meet Calvin!

I'm happy he looks OK! I was worried that he'd be a wreck, since I've seen so many horror stories here. Also happy he likes to be handled. :) The tank he's in isn't bad for size, I just feel like he could use another foot of length. I just cleaned up his tank. It was so gross! He also...

OK, just thought it was interesting and noteworthy - somthing to ponder! Esp. for those using T8 bulbs.
