Hi all,
I have a young beardie a little less than a year old that has been in constant brumation for the last few weeks. Vet has recommended using an infrared heat lamp at night to keep the temps from dropping too drastically. Right now the low in the tank is about 68F at night. I was under the...
I have not weighed her. I don’t know what she weighed before she started this. I’ve read that it’s best to leave them alone if brumating so I haven’t tried to get her out of her hide.
Yes there are spots where she can sit directly under it, at about 10” from it. She started hiding for a few days, then came out for a day and basked and ate, but now she’s been hiding under a log on the cool side for a few weeks.
It’s a tube, inside the tank. Temps are measured with a digital probe, not a surface temp reader but we have one of those available I believe. Attached are some pictures of the tank and hot and cool side readings
Hi all. We have a young female, less than 1 year old I believe, who’s gone into brumation. Nothing has changed inside the tank. The temps are good. Anyone else have experience with this? From what I’ve researched most people say to just leave her be. I offer water but have stopped putting out...
Hi,
we just found out that our beardie taco is a female. This is our first reptile and we’re not sure what to expect when she starts to lay eggs. Is it complicated? Time consuming? The vet said that spaying her is an option which we are considering. Has anyone here spayed their female? Is it...
Hi,
Our Taco is about 6 months old now and he’s starting to scratch on the carpet in his tank before going to sleep at night. Is there an acceptable substrate to put down for him in his sleeping area or something that he could use to burrow? I know there’s the Zoomed clay but I’m not ready to...
He’s pretty good about it. He’s held snakes and reptiles before. He’s obviously really excited to have one and we’re working on building trust with Taco by not forcing things too much. Taco has eaten out of his hands a few times so it’s not that he’s afraid of him or anything, I just think he...
Awesome. Thank you for the tips. I forgot to mention that we have 2 dogs, a 6 year old son and an 11 month old daughter so needless to say there’s always a bit of commotion when everyone is home. I’m sure that is adding to Taco’s uneasiness.
If I can ask you another question...did you get your bearded as a baby? If so, how long did it take for it to not be so skittish? I see pictures of young dragons sleeping on people’s chests, but I feel if I tried that with ours it would take off. He’s not a fan of being handled and will only sit...
Hi all,
Right now we have our baby dragon in our son’s room. My wife works from home and goes to say hi to him periodically throughout the day, but apart from feeding him in the morning and afternoon, and taking him out for a run around the room every few days, it’s pretty quiet with nothing...
