Just updated my post to include the before and after for ONE MONTH since he hurt his eye. Yes! He's still shedding. He's getting his soak tomorrow so that should help loosen it up. But he's just still in the process of losing his pieces. He's eating great! Especially loves his dandelions...
Not blood on his arm. It's a the berries that were there. But can we please check out how amazing his eye looks?! He's shedding normally, giving me the stink eye. Look. At. Him. What a guy, healing nicely! I'm so happy!
(APRIL 27th vs MARCH 27th! One month anniversary!)
Seeing the dragon like that is absolutely heartbreaking! When I rushed Rumpsy to the emergency room back in February, he wasn't even as bad as this, and I freaked out. I hope this little guy was able to get to a veterinarian and get help. Poor thing.
That''s a big fear for me too. MBD. Both vets said he didn't have any signs of MBD and his bones, form, etc. looked good. It was just the URI. As you know, he is 9 years old. I am SO UPSET that the coils were most likely the reason and he probably was suffering for a while. Took 9 years for him...
I really think he's getting better! Once he shed around his eye, he stopped scratching and it started healing. I think it's looking really good. I did put some diluted honey as suggested previously. This is just one week since he scratched it like crazy. (Left eye is the bad one. Good one...
Well, it got bad to the point where I was going to make an appointment with a new vet. Because he is currently shedding, he was going all over the enclosure literally rubbing his face and eye all over the floor, his basking log/tunnel. OOF. I caught him literally rubbing his whole eye, dragging...
I should also probably add that today he ate a lot! 2 dandelions and nearly half a pack of Hikari Bearded Dragon gel. So even though he is currently refusing to drink, he's eating super moist food. Poop also looks great. I really do think the shedding in his eye contributed to his discomfort...
Hi!
The vet just said to use it for two weeks, but of course, I stopped once it made things worse. Anyway, his eye was healing nicely, so I thought. It was just a scab underneath (previous photo I posted) and it seemed like he was getting better every day. I'm still giving him a soak every 48...
Just wanted to give an update after all your suggestions. And say thank you again for all the help.
It seems like the new UVB light is working well. Rumpsy (I realize I never used his name on here!) is doing great eating a lot, drinking a lot of water during his bath every 48 hours, and the...
Yes. The bulb has nothing over it. The screen is open and directly shining into the tank with no obstruction.
Update on the eye and honey: Ugh. He ripped the eye again. I put some more unpasteurized honey diluted with the water on a gauze pad, gently went around the eye, and he twitched and...
I got the 20" cause it's all they had. Here are some photos and an update of his eyes. I WILL TELL YOU, he hasn't scratched his eye since I turned the UVB off!
And! Got the bulb and hood. Very small for the 40 gallon, but I just pushed the screen back and latched it on. What do I need to know for the new hood?
Temps are good! Colder end of the tank is 75 where the hot end is at 92. I tried to warm that up with the under tank heat pad, but I took that out.
I just gave him a bath. (The vet had said to give him a bath every 48 hours.) I added a Bearded Dragon electrolytes and probiotics mix. He drank a...
