Beardie won't leave hide/ cool area..

I will try and sort the surface temp under the basking bulb, maybe a sheet of bark underneath, that should stop the heat absorbtion a bit, it wouldn't be so much like a hot-plate then. Will also try a lower watt bulb like you say. -She's just reached 7 months, she's quite large for that age...

Beardie won't leave hide/ cool area..

Thats precisely why i got the 5.o Germ. My friend worked in a reptile shop for years and told me that a 10.0 might do more harm than good in such a low enclosure.

Beardie won't leave hide/ cool area..

So the skin finally came off in the bath today! She seemed real chirpy and fine, she drank and pooped, same as yesterday, then went and destroyed about 12 Superworms. She seemed quite happy and lively so i went out for about 15 mins, but when i came back she was straight back in that cave...

Beardie won't leave hide/ cool area..

My air temp in the basking spot is around 41-43C, however the surface of the slate tile underneath the light often reaches 46C+ towards the end of the day ( is this too hot for the beardie too touch? Ive been curious about this also, if its a really hot day and i come home from being out for a...

Beardie won't leave hide/ cool area..

Hey guys, quick question. My girl has been having a pretty tough shed for well over a month now, she's been going bit by bit: arms, legs, head, beard, neck, belly, tail and now finally her back is starting to come off. She's been a bit grumpy the whole time, but not awful, warm soaks tend to...

Can we clear up this misting thing?

Thanks Germ, awesome advice as per usual!

Can we clear up this misting thing?

Hey guys, I'm pretty confused on the topic of "regularly misting your beardies cage". It seems to be another one of those practices, much like substrate choice, that everybody has a different (and hard-pressed) opinion on. Some people tell me that they need the daily moisture, some people tell...

    Ordering Crickets Online

The smell.. Oh the smell.. I ordered 1000 a couple weeks ago with the impression she would smash them in a week or so with her appetite. As soon as they came my girl started shedding and wouldn't eat. Worst decision ever buying 1000, they truly are disgusting  . Will be looking into doing...

    Appetite loss.

Right, over the last couple of days she has shed a lot on all of her limbs, and i believe she is going to shed a bit on her face soon. This would explain the scratching and jerking movements in the bath. My temps are 110 and 85. She's 5 months and a big girl at 15 inches. I did manage to get her...

    Appetite loss.

Hey guys, Over the last few days my girl has gone right off her food. I've managed to get her to eat maybe 5-10 cricks a day by hand feeding her with tweezers and even that is a pain in the ass. Before she was smashing 40+a day. She's still hardly touching any veggies but she wasn't doing that...

Helloo! Am i doing everything right? :)

Thanks for the help guys, I've ordered some digital thermometers and will be replacing the wood chips with tiles or play sand asap. I will address that bulb situation tomorrow, if i were to fix a small cage around the bulb would that suffice? That's awesome about how they sense heat, i never...

Helloo! Am i doing everything right? :)

Hey there guys, i got my beardie about a week ago now, she is 4/5 months old but pretty large at 15" long. It would be great if some of you guys could let me know if my viv's is ok and if im doing anything wrong :) Anyway there's a few pics of the viv that she came in from the breeder, I know...

    4 months and 15"!

Thanks for the help guys, i might give the breeder a call just to clarify her age then. I don't have her out of the viv all day, she'll come out for half hour to an hour maybe and then i'll put her back. But because my vivarium is on the floor, and has a sealed lid i just leave the sliding door...
