I'd say if starting a dragon in a 20gal. enclosure a 24" florescent tube fixture from WalMart would be great...They're only around $10 and you can then re-use it in your future 40gal. as you lizard grows and matures. ReptiSun10.0 is only bulb!!

It puts off plenty UVB up to 20" and I'm only using in hatchling bins,
bulbs 16" off the ground with 4" raised basking area so all is well.
Furthest distance from bulb in bin is just under 20" :)
looks great!! a 24" reptisun UVB should do well in there mounted on and angle across the roof.
As far as sand goes I'd leave it alone...i mean it's personal preference and I too thought it looked cool at one point,
but the risk just isn't worth it in my eyes.
I've switched to 125w MVB's in my old ceramic fixtures with the metal domes removed since they're self ballasted.
Fixtures are "Great Choice" brand and rated to 660w. Picked a couple up at PetSmart during a 2 for 1 sale $14.99
And PetSuppliesPlus has SolarGlow 125w for $26.99 right now :cool...
Hey everyone. I'm back from a little time away breeding and working full-time. Barely had time to sleep let alone get online and hang with you all. Taking the winter off and will be posting lots more. :)
This is Hannibal the male leather I'm keeping from Stella's first clutch, laid on 4/20.
They're both really great..we've been using FB pages for a while and been super busy and my laptop broke a while back, then Stella had two clutches I've raised and sold :) I have plenty of pics from all of it, just hate using the app to post it all.
Very nice dragons. cant wait to see more in the future. as far as morphs..you can call them whatever i guess.. but if you can't prove it there's no difference other than the obvious Visual Trans, Hypo, Coloring, and Dunner traits.
That's why breeders sell proven dragons for so much money.
