I may end up getting another heat mat and sticking it to the side. Then hopefully they will breed really well when they molt into adults. Thank you guys for all the help.
I keep them in my closet with the door closed so its dark in there with or without solid colored walls so I dont see how the light would pose that much of a problem.
I have just a simple sterilite bin. It has clear walls, it is 58 quarts/55 liters. I order 50 medium sized roaches from west coast roaches but some of them were DOA, and they are grey in color so theyre nymphs.

I left it on for 4-6 hours and periodically checked the temp with an infrared themometer with the tub placed directly on it and it seems that the hottest i could get the floor of the tub was 91.5 degrees. Inside of the egg cartons, it read 75 degrees. Its already between 70-80 percent humidity...
