i'm curious why a beardie would hold their mouth open when basking. i was visiting a friend who had one and he asked me if he should worry or if i thought it was normal. i told him i'd let him know what i find if i could
i replaced bulb, lowered it, and put it at about 6-8 inches over him. his activity level skyrocketed and he couldn't appear much happier than he is now
i use fluker water gels and for now i put different leftover veggies until i get actual cricket food. they eat carrots almost as fast as people eat cotton candy.
i have recently decided to start a cricket colony and wanted to know if i start one with using fishing bait shop crickets? it is far more convenient and easier to buy them rather than ordering them online. i put them in a container so they can eat and drink before giving them to my beardie
i do give him live crickets, cuz that's all he eats. i've been talking and getting advice about him eating only live crickets. the main reason i have freeze dried is that the crickets eat it and other dry food in a dish. while they eat he watches and stalks them from above and strikes for one...
they freeze dried. his crickets usually are who eat them. i had just put it in the dish. he is indifferent to them. waits for crickets to get to dish and gets them
this helped a lot and saved me what would most certainly would have been a major headache. didn't realize the difference in lighting and fixture had such a range. i don't think i would have figured it all out if you hadn't helped.
ok. i have it all set up to get me through till i get what i need. of course while i was doing this the timer turned off so he laid down for the night. i will be getting the right stuff tomorrow first thing. after knowing what told what exactly i needed to use, it didn't take much to look up.
my current one is 18" long. i'm running into a problem with placing it in the tank cuz the heat is making the light fixture hot and a serious hazard of melting.
should i leave uvb on overnight? or what do suggest to do with lighting during the night? and would it helped if i took him outside for a little while to get fresh sun?
that's fine. i was just curious is all. anyway back to the topic. i run into a major issue on getting the specific bulb. closest place that sells them is a pretty far drive for me cuz i live in the country. and i don't know how soon i can get there. what's the time frame i have?
