Hey guys if you saw my last post about my bearded dragon Luigi and not eating greens well he took a turn for the worse he was just fine yesterday eating and running around I got up this morning and went to switch to day basking bulbs and I noticed he had a black beard so I kept a eye on him to see if maybe the tank temperature he didn't like he never changed from the black beard so I was thinking maybe he was hungry and uncomfortable so I tried to offer him some supers he was eating yesterday didn't want to eat anything so I decided to give him a bath to see if that would perk him up which it did his black beard went away and he was running around assumed his tank was alittle cold so I upgraded the bulb and got the basking side alittle above 100 and put him back in the tank his beard turn back black and I went to turn back to night lights and he THREW up everything he ate from yesterday and Nothing was digested and he still feels sick? Any advice I hate to see him so miserable

Night heat light is it a Ceramic Heat Emitter? Like this https://www.chewy.com/flukers-ceram...MIqaTGx63y8wIVAiM4Ch2dNgFFEAQYASABEgLjcPD_BwE
If that is the case that is good but they are not to be used as a basking bulb
this is what you need for lighting
a good bright white basking bulb a Exo Terra is an example does not need to be the same brand but you want a bright white NO daytime Neodymium bulb and Exo Terra sells them as Daytime Heat Lamp you want their Intense basking bulb -- one that keeps temps for a adult / juvie 95-100 and that temp MUST be taken w/a digital probe thermometer for a accurate basking temp babies temps 105-110 place the probe where he sits for basking wait 10 min or so then get the temp -- the probe does not need to stay there but spot check every now and then
next your UVB please NO coils --- you want a long tube fixture
how big is your tank so I can help you get the correct bulb for it -- either a T 8 or a T 5 -- give me the measurements please

What kind of UVB are you using --- this is crucial in the dragons health and please measure the tank

Hello, im sorry to hear ur dragon isn’t doing to well, ive attached some pictures of things we use here on this site, not all of these things are NEEDED, But, they’re some really important ones: lighting has to be #1 top of the line best/new, heating has to be correct and not to cold (no lights at night what so ever, dragons have better eyesight than us) vitamins and supplements are very important, have a calcium and a multivitamin and u should be fine, if u have any questions please do ask them, there’s no such thing as a silly question :) (and my dragons a lot bigger than normal js)

I'll post the pick of the tank when I get home. But he pooped yesterday the same time he threw up and he ate the day before yesterday
Next poo take a picture aswell, how many times has he threw up? Just the once? What was it? Crickets? Roaches? worms?vegg? can u tell us a lil more about him? Have u had him all his life? What vitamins does he get? How often? Whats his temperament like? Crazy? docile? There’s only a couple reasons they throw up and most of them arnt good :/ if he’s thrown up a number of times id recommend getting a fecal done, and take him to a reptile specialist…. A dont want to worry you unnecessarily though, he could be totally fine and maybe just a spine from one of the bugs stuck him, or something else may of been the issue…

He has thrown up once and he threw up chewed up super worms. Alittle more about him his first owner basically didn't care for him no calcium no vitamins let other animals around him and basically treated him wrong and he got his tail broke that way and his arm the second owner didn't know how to take care of him and left him in a dark shed without lights and fed him bugs from the yard maybe fed him 2 bugs a week so when I got him I had to hurry up and make a cage and had spare lamps since we didn't know when he was coming that soon and that was like a 2 weeks ago. Well I have 2 types a vitamins the powder and the liquid. He's a very friendly lizard not aggressive at all.

Only threw up once thats good,….Since hes been with you only 2 weeks, and idk this for 100% but im thinking its his “system” restarting, him getting fed so little probably was ““good”” for him, if the previous owner was feeding him too much, the lack of proper heat an uvb the bugs would ferment in his gut and he’d get really really sick, im thinking since hes now getting proper care from you, that first meal was a little too much, and him not eating now is probably cause hes still not all there yet, have you weighed him? Get a sheet going, clock him in every evening after he poos, if he’s losing weight id recommend get him to a vet asap.

Forgot to say, the supers would DEFINITELY make him sick if he hasn’t had “real meals” id start him slow on everything, calcium, vitamins, bugs, vegs, just give him a little of everything right now, dont over feed him, im thinking thats what happened….

The only thing that changed was the pervious owner came by cause his kids wanted to see him since they loved him and he started to head Bob at them and shortly after got sick so I don't know if that had something to do with that of if he was use to eating small amounts there and I over fed him

That’s kinda sad…… to bad their father couldn’t keep up good husbandry….. the head bob may of been aggressive behavior, the dragon probably hates them, kids n lizards dont mix very well…… :/ give him some time and report back to us if anything more happens, really theres only two things u can do at the moment, worry or wait, since hes only puked once I think its a nonissue, but do take precautions, look up some vets in ur area just to be sure :( sorry if i wasn’t very helpful, sick lizards are hard to deal with sometimes.
