Hi All,
I'm Jason from South Africa. Bearded dragon struck my interest a while ago after seeing my neighbours one. Stunning! After showing interest in them, a friend gave me a male and female as a gift. I need all the advice and usefull tips i can get pls. I also am trying to find out what type of dragons I have, if anyone have an idea of what they can be, pls let me knw. The smaller one is the female. They are about 2 years old now. Male - 35cm with short tale big body/fat. Female also 35 cm, but with long tale and body a lot smaller than the male. Any Idea's??????? So, you are going to need to keep them in separate tanks unless you are trying to mate them. The male is probably turning his beard black to let the female know he's going for her. Even if you want to mate them, you should have a separate tank for them because he will keep mating with him until he exhausts her.

They also turn completely dark in color when they are soaking up UVB. You will notice when they are outside they will be real dark and then when you bring them in they will lighten up.

Welcome to the forum! That is 1 black beard lol he is showing off to the female.. Yes please don't house them together for the females sake :( He won't leave her alone..
Yup mine gets very dark while soaking up the sunshine sometimes she turns a greenish sometimes brown while outside..
