I got my bearded dragon 2 months ago. Hes ten years old and basically his whole life he hasnt had uvb, calcium, a water bowl, didnt eat meat, and lived in a 2 and a half foot aquarium. When I got him I bought him everything he needed including a 4 foot tank anyway hed had this spot on his tail that looks like stacked up old skin that wont come off its maybe a 2" spot I bathe him everyday for atleast half an hour hes looking a million times better except for that spot I know these things take time but is there anything I can do to start getting it off?

Thankyou for rescuing him:)

& same question as above. Does it get softer when soaked in water?

Also, do you know the type of spot it is? (fungal infection etc.)

It stuck up off his tail 1/4 inch maybe a little less. It was rock hard even in water but with time it did soften and it finally came off just a few weeks ago it was since november I was trying to get it off. It was a build up of scales that werent shedding properly.

Glad to hear it came off. I just recently rescued a beardie (my first) thst hasn't reviewed proper UVB, heat and room to roam, she can't really move around apparently vet said I rear leg mussel mass :(

It's pretty nerve racking having to clean up after someone's mess in terms if them health wise but its so worth it! Good for you I'm happy to hear we are in the same boat!

Awe thats horrible I just dont understand why people get pets and dont give them the essential things they need to live. Is the muscle mass fixable? Oh definatly but well worth it in the end. Thats awesome of you to take on the challenge good luck and I hope she gets better!

What exactly is a muscle mass? I wonder if maybe putting her in the bathtub and getting her to swim would help her muscles thats how I got one of my turtles to start using his back legs he had no muscle in them from again living in poor conditions he would just use his front feet if he ever decided to move at all. Yeah they tend to do that shy animals they can be

She just meant had no mussels to use her legs well, maybe ill try that in the bath to get her legs going.

I plan on taking her out more to run around when she gets a bit more comfortable and had the right amount of heat.
