Hello everybody i’m fairly new to the forum. Today’s question “Does hard surfaces, such as tile or glass have long terms effects on bearded dragons?”

Ever since I got into the hobby of always been told to put my Dragon on slate tile, which I did. However I recently switched to a new exotic veterinarian who informed me that hard surfaces such as slate tile and glass can cause very bad long-term damage to the joints of bearded dragons legs. She informed me that over the years of being on hard surfaces a bearded dragon will lose mobility because of the swelling in the joints. I’ve always questioned information so in my search on the Internet to find information To back it up, I found very little. I want to know what others think, if other people have heard the same maybe?? I would think a licensed professional who has been in the field for many years would give a professional opinion but you never know.

I would think if you have *only* hard surfaces, that would be the case, but most people have a variety of surface textures for their pets. Think hammocks, fleece piles, etc. :0)
