I have a 150watt bulb in a 8.5 dome fixture on top metal mesh.
the bulbs surface does touch the mesh.
Do you guys think if I place it on top of the metal mesh it'll burn threw?

It should be okay. Just make sure your dome is rated for that watt. also make sure you have a digital thermometer to measure your temps.

I have that, a 150w bulb on metal mesh. It hasn't burned THROUGH, but there is a burnt spot. Like, the black mesh is no longer black right where the bulb sits.

lol the dome is a 150watt dome so it should be fine.
and thanks for the info!
I was just worried cuz I dont want a house fire lol!
i had it suspended but it melted some of the plastic on the uvb bulb fixture (yikes) and the fixture was a good distance away
but i think i wanna keep it on the mesh.
It doest quite get up to 100F for kiwi when suspended either.
He seemed to like it better when i put it down on the mesh too.
